6 Best Places to Work and Study in East London

Cristina García

By now, all of you are probably already settled in a student residence, shared house or with us in Bethnal Student Living, and you have likely started at University too which is actually great!

No doubt, you have also been exploring and enjoying London during this time before the essays and exams begin, but it is important you discover the best spots and cosy places where you can do your homework and study for your exams. Here are some of our suggestions:

  1. Study Room in your Residence

One of the best places to get focused (and be sociable at the same time) is in the Study Room of your Student Accommodation if it has one like ours at Bethnal Student Living.

It is the closest place from your room and you have the possibility of wearing comfy clothes as all the people you see will be other students living in the same building. It is also a nice way to socialise with other people in the same situation as you.

  1. Bethnal Green Library

For those who prefer not to be disturbed by any kind of noise, libraries are always the best choice.

The Bethnal Green Library is a 3-minute walk from Bethnal Green Tube Station (Central line), right by the park. It´s a community library situated in a beautiful old building. You can check the opening hours by clicking here.

  1. Second Shot Coffee ? Coffee Shop

If you are more likely to work on an essay instead of studying a subject and you prefer to enjoy a nice coffee (with the option to get also brunch) while listening to music like Nora Jones in a trendy environment, this is your place.

They open early in the mornings and close early in the afternoons, but it is a really cool place (even if it´s a bit pricey).

  1. The Book Club

The Book Club is located in the heart of Shoreditch and is a large space of spacious rooms with long tables. It is a very useful and comfortable to work in groups and teams for your University projects. You can end your night there as they serve coffee, make food, and prepare cocktails, and at night it becomes a nightclub downstairs. All in one!

  1. Ozone Coffee Roasters

This fashionable coffeehouse is very popular in Shoreditch. At Ozone Coffee Roaster you will find plenty of space where you can leave your books and your laptop while enjoying a delicious coffee. You also have different options to snack on something and they´ve got an open kitchen.

  1. The Barbican Library

Even though it can take you up to 29 minutes by bus from our Residence (bus 55), the trip is really worth it. The Barbican Library is a vibrant public library in the heart of The Barbican Centre. It has special collections of art, music, finance and London but you can also find graphic novels, books and audio books. Of course, they´ve got Free Wi-Fi and also computers with internet access (in case you get an issue with your computer!).

When you are done with your essays and your exams, it is also useful to know that they do various art-related events that you may want to attend. Membership is available for those who live, work or study in the City of London.

There are more places to study and work for your University in East London, but we believe you can start exploring those ones first!

So, it would be a huge advantage to live in a Student Residence like ours - Bethnal Student Living - as you will be immersed in an environment similar to yours and you will enjoy all those spaces in a very short trip time as Bethnal Student Living is linked with excellent transport. Moreover, you can get to all these on foot or by bus (avoiding the Tube!).
